How It Works (Typical Salt-Based System)

1. Ion Exchange Process: Hard water flows through a resin bed inside the softener tank. The resin beads are charged with sodium (or potassium) ions.

2. Exchange: Calcium and magnesium ions in the water are swapped for sodium or potassium ions.

3. Regeneration: Periodically, the system flushes the resin with a salty brine solution to recharge it.
